[1] THIS WEEK'S MONEY SAVER: FREE Image Editor
------------------------------------------------------------

There are some great programs out there for painting,
or for editing and retouching images. Unfortunately the
cost of many of the more well-known ones is hard to
justify if your graphic needs are few and infrequent.

Why not consider a FREE alternative? Here's one from
Japan:

Pixia is a beautifully designed image editing program
backed by a very helpful web site where you
can find tutorials and user groups to help you get up
and running. (And if you don't want to load another
program on your computer, be sure to see our internet
tip below!)

Here's where to find Pixia:

[2] THIS WEEK'S COMPUTING TIP: Don't Pass It On
------------------------------------------------------------

We all get emails that have been passed along from person
to person with large lists of recipients repeated for all
the world to see. I don't care to have my personal details
repeated this way, and you might not either.

Here's how to avoid violating other people's privacy:

There are three commonly used fields for outgoing email:
"To," "Cc" and "Bcc." "Cc" stands for carbon copy, and
if your put your list of recipients in this or in the
"To" field, all the world will see it. The "Bcc" field
is for a blind carbon copy. Only the sender will see who
is listed in the "Bcc" field. So if you want to preserve
your own and others' privacy, use "Bcc." Everyone listed
in this field will receive the email, but they won't
have the clutter (or security breach) of a long list of
other people's email addresses.

If you want to send an email to a group of people all
known to one another and you do want them to have one
anothers email addresses, put them in the "Cc" field.
The recipient list in the "Cc" field will be visible to
everyone who is in it.

Now one last word on this subject: During this time of
trial and uncertainty, lots of emails are going around
perpetuating rumors disguised as facts. Consider doing
everyone a favor and avoid the urge to pass along such
emails. You'll be doing your part to help us all to stay
calm. End of sermon.

[3] THIS WEEK'S INTERNET TIP: Online Image Editor
------------------------------------------------------------

Okay, so let's say that a FREE image editing program isn't
for you because maybe you don't want yet another program
that you'll seldom use cluttering up your computer. Or
maybe you just don't want to take the time to learn another
program that you won't be using much, but you still have
the need to work with GIFs.

(Pronounced jiff or giff (hard g) stands for graphics
interchange format, a bit-mapped graphics file format
used on the internet.)

GIFWorks is an online GIF image editor. This unique tool
has nothing to download or install. Better yet, it's FREE.

To get started, go to their web site and follow some
simple instructions for how to work their menus.

You'll find tools like: Resize, Crop, Rotate, Effects,
Insert Text, Zoom, Transparency, Sharpen, Brightness
and Image Optimization. The GIFWorks interface works
with Netscape and Internet Explorer browser versions 3.x
and greater.

You'll find it here:

"The French "Pschitt" is a popular brand of soda in Europe
owned by Perrier, in fact. For obvious reasons the name
does not play well in English-speaking countries."
