[1] THIS WEEK'S MONEY SAVER: No-Cost Virtual Monitors

Do you like to run several programs at once, and are you
having trouble keeping track of them all? Rather than
buying a larger monitor, here's a program that you can
use to create no-cost virtual desktops.

VirtuaWin allows you to organize your applications with
up to nine "virtual" desktops. For example, if you use
two virtual desktops, you can put a web browser on desk
one and switch away as needed from the browser to a new
empty workspace on desk two on which you can run your
other applications, like word processing or financial
programs.

The idea for virtual desktops is very common on Unix
systems. Once you get used to this, you'll wonder how
you ever managed without it.

The author of VirtuaWin designed it to be as simple and
effective as possible while keeping it highly
configurable.

* Small, fast and easy to use, "just the needed
   stuff(TM)" :)
* Supports user defined icons
* Can keep an active window on every desktop
* Can set windows sticky to make them appear on all
   desktops

* Supports modules for additional features
* Can save desktop contents and restore them upon
   restart
* Uses less than 1% of the CPU on a standard computer

for both Windows and Mac users:

Displaycalibration.com is a web site that allows you to
test and adjust your display for optimal performance.
There are tests for brightness, contrast, color depth
and screen resolution. No downloads necessary. You
can do all your testing with your browser.

Here's a terrific repository where you can find and
download necessary files that may have been lost or
corrupted on your system.

You can find just about any .DLL, .BAS, .ICO, .OCX, .TTF,
or .VBX that you need. All the files are free, but you
may need to register some with their original vendor.

lots of fonts and thousands of icons at this site as well.
