[1] THIS WEEK'S MONEY SAVER: Robot Shopping Assistants
------------------------------------------------------------
This could be the summer of the robot. Steven Spielberg's
new movie, A.I., debuts. And to promote it, the film's
web site contains a history of robots, referred to on the
internet simply as "bots."
Database, computer and internet technology allow bots
nowadays to perform the very useful function of saving
you money by locating the lowest price on just about any
item you might be seeking.
Botspot at Bots.internet.com
attempts to keep us
current on all kinds of bots. For one of the most
useful, check out their "Shopping Bots" site:
http://bots.internet.com/search/s-shop.htm
There are even bots to help you locate stuff at internet
auctions and then assist you in placing the winning bid.
Be aware, though, that many of the links lead to sites
which, due to the tech shakeout, no longer exist.

piece of hardware you'd like to
buy is compatible with the Windows
operating system BEFORE you buy it.

[2] THIS WEEK'S COMPUTING TIP: Plugins and Helpers
------------------------------------------------------------
Plug-ins are software tools that add features to your
browser. For example, Macromedia's Flash, which allows
you to watch animations.
Helper applications are similar to plug-ins. They perform
similar tasks, but instead of running inside your browser,
helper applications run as separate programs and display
information in their own windows. For example, Real.com's
RealPlayer for audio and video files. A helper can be
set up to be run by your browser automatically so you
don't need to start it up yourself each time you use it.
You can find lots of Windows helper apps at the
Tucows
site and Mac helpers at the MIT Laboratory for Computer
Science's Info-Mac

[3] THIS WEEK'S INTERNET TIP: Cyber University
------------------------------------------------------------
The internet isn't just great for freebies, it's the
greatest aid to learning since the printed page. If you
don't agree, try searching for information on just about
any subject you can think of. You'll quickly have access
to more information than you'll know what to do with.
If you're yearning to keep your gray cells active, you
might even want to consider on-line higher education.
There are many colleges and universities currently
offering courses. Here's one that is particularly friendly
to later-in-life learners: Empire
State College, run by
the State University of New York.
You can get accredited degrees using experience you've
already gathered in your life. Or you can take classes
without credit for the sheer love of learning. They even
make in-state tuition rates available to out-of-state
students.
Matriculate
here.

[4] THIS WEEK'S ONE-LINER
------------------------------------------------------------
"The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in
half and put it back in your pocket."

[5] Get Out of Debt, Retire Early
----------------------------------------------------------
"YOU can *Get Out of Debt* and *Retire* in Four Years
Or Less!"
The old approach of working and saving for 40 years
doesn't work. It is a myth. I will show you a
four-year
approach that DOES work.
No selling. No employees. No inventory. No meetings.
