Here's an e-mail service for people who love their e-mail,
but don't always have the opportunity to plug in, dial up,
and log on. And, to make a good thing even better, it's
free!

myTalk enables members to call a toll-free telephone
number, access their mailboxes, and hear their e-mail.

The best part is the way you interact with the system just
say what you want, with no need to punch in numbers or
memorize unfamiliar terms.

In fact, you can even use your phone to send a reply (as
a voice attachment) to the same e-mail message you just
listened to! You'll never be out of touch again.

myTalk has all the free e-mail basics you'd expect on the
web, too. From the myTalk web site, you can create,
reply, forward and retrieve e-mail from existing accounts.
Other features attachments, address books--all the
goodies you need to manage your electronic mail.

[2] THIS WEEK'S COMPUTING TIP: Resize Columns

As you probably know, you can adjust the width of the
Name, Size, Type, and Modified columns in Windows
Explorer's Details view using your mouse. To do so, you
first position your mouse cursor over the column border.
When the mouse pointer turns into a doubled-headed
arrow, just drag the pointer to enlarge or shrink the
column.

To quickly set the optimal column width, when the mouse
pointer turns into a doubled-headed arrow, double-click
the column border. When you do, the column width will
be set to a size large enough, or small enough, to display
all the data in the column.

This tip will work in any window that allows you to use
the Details view.

Automatically Updated Encyclopedia

Encyclopedia.com puts the entire Concise Columbia
Electronic Encyclopedia--minus the illustrations--at your
fingertips.

If it's illustrations you seek, you can pay a subscription fee.

Either way, the articles are extremely complete, a learning
experience in themselves. For those of you with fast
internet connections, this site makes a great alternative to
a CD-ROM encyclopedia because you get updates
automatically.
