Where to Start Your Search for Study Funds
The folks at Fastweb say: "Need money for college?
Use Fastweb's FREE scholarship search to search our
500,000 scholarships totaling $1 Billion. Don't wait, find
your free money for college now!" The service is paid for
by ads being sent to those who sign up, unless you check
the "please exclude me" option.

What's the biggest rip-off on the
Internet?
In my opinion it's over-priced credit
card
merchant accounts. I'll tell you why.

[2] THIS WEEK'S COMPUTING TIP: Well-behaved
Icons
---------------------------------------------------------
Keep Your Icons Behaving Properly
If you're one of those people who thought you were
seeing things when the icons in My Computer, Windows
Explorer or the Windows desktop changed for no
apparent reason, this tip is for you.
(Mac readers who are about to complain that I'm
including another tip just for Windows readers: You can
gloat about the fact that you don't have this problem.)
Microsoft offers several
solutions here.
The following tip involves changing your system registry
file. If you ever want to make a change to the registry,
be sure to make backup copies of "System.dat" and
"User.dat" BEFORE you begin.
If you've decided to proceed, and you've made your
backup, open the Registry Editor by selecting "Start,"
"Run," and type, "regedit" (without the quotes) in
the
dialogue box. Click "OK." Next, navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer.
Right-click a blank area inside the right pane and
select "New," "String Value." Type the name: "Max
Cached Icons" (without the quotes) Then press
"Enter."
Right-click the new value and select "Modify." In the
"Value Data field," type: "2048" (without the quotes)
Then click "OK."
Restart Windows, and your icons should behave
normally again until next time.

[3] THIS WEEK'S INTERNET TIP: In Plain English
------------------------------------------------------------
An Internet Glossary For Newbies
From the "Just What the Newbie (person new to the
internet) Needs Department":
Here's a searchable glossary that provides straightforward,
easy-to-understand definitions of Internet terms. If a term
isn't already in the glossary, you can e-mail it to P.E.G.
and they'll reply with the definition and add it to the site.
Ask P.E.G. (Plain English Glossary) can be found here:

"The law of gravity says, 'No fair jumping without
coming down.'"
