[1] THIS WEEK'S MONEY SAVER: High-Speed Hype
--------------------------------------------------------
Been Anxious to Get That New High-Speed
Connection?
You might be surprised to learn that the flashy download
speeds touted for cable, satellite and DSL connections
are often immaterial to the tasks you perform most often
on the internet.
If, like most people, your primary use of the internet is
to send and receive e-mail, you probably won't notice
any difference between your current modem and a
high-speed connection.
Here's another thing that you may not know: Often, the
real delays on the Web have nothing at all to do with
how fast your internet connection is. Most of the time it
is the amount of traffic on a particular Web site that is
slowing things down, not your connection.

Not one, but two great FREE image
editors.
One can use plugins that make it a
great way
to easily view all the images on
a drive. The
other was originally made for Linux,
but is
now also available for Windows.

[2] THIS WEEK'S COMPUTING TIP: Print That Screen
---------------------------------------------------------
Need a Printout of Your Computer Screen?
Have you ever wished you could get a printout of
whatever is on your computer screen. Say you want the
list of files in Windows Explorer, or you find a web page particularly
fascinating. In Windows 95, 98, or NT, you
can easily print any screen.
To create a screen print do this: Press the Print Screen
"PrtSc" button on the keyboard. It's located to the right
of your "Function" keys, F1 to F12, usually found at the
top of you keyboard. Then, open Microsoft Paint. Z
Select "Edit," then "Paste." Once the image is pasted
into
MS Paint, just use the "Print" command to print your
screen to your printer. Once the image is in Paint, you
can also save it for future reference or future use.

[3] THIS WEEK'S INTERNET TIP: Free CGI
---------------------------------------------------------
Want to Host Scripts but You Don't Have CGI Access?
Here's a solution for those of you who would like to be
able to run CGI scripts but don't have a web host that allows them to.
(CGI stands for Common Gateway Interface, a language used for scripts
that extend the usefulness of HTML, allowing it to accomplish tasks it
otherwise could not.) Here's a site that offers loads of
free CGI scripts which they host for you on their server
also for free.
Some of the available scripts are: message boards,
"free-for-all pages," mailing lists, random links, form
mailers, jump boxes, chat boards and more.
